Job Description

Bolton Arena Community Sports Village, is a charitable Trust offering large multi-purpose indoor and outdoor sports, leisure and events facilities for the local community. Bolton Arena emphasises affordable access to sport, health and wellbeing for all ages and abilities, reinvesting any surplus into improving facilities and services for local people. We also host numerous community groups, health-focused initiatives, and partnerships with organisations such as Age UK.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to act as a trusted, front-facing people partner across the charity to support growth and expansion in 2026. This role plays a critical part in supporting managers and employees, leading key HR initiatives, and ensuring best practice across all people processes.

Role Purpose:



This role is a true generalist role working collaboratively with the Leadership Team and our outsourced HR advisory service, whilst taking accountability for the management and delivery of all transactional HR day-to-day queries, processes and procedures. The HR Advisor supports the achievement of business and people objectives by providing a customer focused service and assists our managers and our team members with professional, and practical HR advice and support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities



Be the front-facing HR partner, providing day-to-day support to employees on policies, pay, benefits, and HR procedures.

Leading on TUPE processes for the charity to ensure a smooth transition of the workforce and liaison with key stakeholders

Support the development of HR / People related pay and benefits.

Provide on the ground support and guidance to management through a broad range of HR / People related issues.

Arrange and attend informal/formal meetings and hearings, ensuring accurate documentation, minutes, and compliance with GDPR requirements.

Support the development of onboarding and induction processes and ensure smooth transitions for new team members.

Maintain current and accurate information within the HRIS [iTrent] and shared drive and produces robust management information aligned to business needs. Maintaining GDPR regulations at all times.

To act as the expert for all systems directly relating to and affecting HR ways of working and actively support People Managers to ensure their understanding of the relevant systems (conducting system training where necessary).

Partner on employee relations by addressing concerns, coordinating employee engagement activities, and promoting a positive work environment.

Coordinate employee recognition initiatives.

Provide ad hoc reporting and project support for HR managers and leaders.

Coach, support and mentor all managers in the application of HR policies and practices, providing robust advice and guidance on complex HR issues and casework, including Employment Tribunals, in order to minimise organisational exposure and financial risk.

Support managers through change programmes, contributing to overall business improvement ensuring strategic change objectives are achieved.

Continually reviews HR working processes to ensure they meet the needs of the charity and makes suggestions for improvements, where necessary.

To form close working relationships with all managers to gain understanding of the day-to-day issues as well as areas of focus and direction. Attend relevant management meetings or events to build knowledge and to form part of their teams.

Ensure that all operational administration is produced to a high quality and within a timely manner, including (but not limited to); contract amendments, maternity, paternity, right to work checks, company anniversary reminders, national minimum/ living wage compliance.

Undertake project work as required, individually or as part of a project team to support related business projects.

Person Specification



Experience, Qualifications and Training



Essential:

CIPD level 5 qualification.

Experience with HRIS systems; Midland iTrent preferred.

Current valid driving licence.

Experience of supporting and advising on change management, restructuring and reorganisation.

Qualified by experience: - Generalist experience gained in a fast-paced multi-site leisure, hospitality, retail (or equivalent) business.

Strong IT and numeracy skills, with experience in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Desirable:

Further education preferably in human resources or related field.

Experience of dealing with TUPE transfers

Experience within a similar operational organisation in the public or private sector

Experience of working with Trade Unions

Knowledge



Essential:

A good understanding of the UK General Data Protection Principles (GDPR)

Up to date and comprehensive knowledge of employment and labour law

Desirable:

Knowledge of local government terms and conditions of employment

Salary: 35k per annum
