We are seeking a

dynamic and enthusiastic HR Advisor

to join our team at our Birch, Colchester office. This is a hands-on generalist role working closely with the HR Director and external advisers, providing full HR support across the business. Our people are central to our success, and we are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, uphold our values, and drive positive engagement across the company.

Key Responsibilities (not limited to):



Act as the first point of contact for employees, providing clear and timely HR guidance.

Provide guidance and support to line managers on HR-related matters

Support recruitment activities, including advertising roles, shortlisting, arranging interviews, and assisting with the onboarding process.

Liaise effectively with external advisers, training providers, and other organisations.

Develop and maintain HR policies with the support of our external advisors, ensuring they are up to date, legally compliant, and clearly communicated across the business.

Manage the full employee lifecycle by overseeing new starters, leavers, and contractual changes, preparing offer letters, issuing and updating employment contracts, processing contract changes and salary review letters, handling references, maintaining and updating electronic personnel files, and liaising with payroll to ensure all changes are accurately reflected.

Drive forward our social value and community engagement goals.

Introduce initiatives that support employee wellbeing and strengthen our culture.

Communicate effectively across all levels of the business.

Continually review, streamline, and improve HR processes and documentation.

Attend careers fairs and build relationships with local schools and colleges to promote apprenticeships and early-career opportunities.

Take ownership of the company's apprenticeship programs, working closely with colleges and managers to support recruitment, development, and progression of apprentices.

Essential Requirements



Previous experience in an HR Advisor or similar generalist role

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Confident in drafting letters, documentation, and maintaining accurate HR records

Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems/databases

A proactive, solution-focused approach aligned with supporting directors, managers and employees
