HR Advisor - Fixed Term Contract


12 months (maternity cover)


37 hours a week (5 days) or 30 hours per week (4 days)


to include Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays


Salary 34,857 per annum (FTE)

The role


We are looking for a self-starter with previous HR administration or advisory experience to join our HR team to provide maternity cover. The fixed term contract is expected to last 12 months. You will work within a small team of HR professionals to support managers across all our service areas. You will provide first line support for managers and employees on HR policies and processes and support our HR system. You will also extract data and provide statistical workforce information, and provide support to our Training and Development Specialist administering training courses, updating the e-Learning system and supporting on apprenticeships.




Your activities will include:


- Deliver and assist in the provision of specialist HR advice and support to meet the Council's needs


- Act as a first point of contact for employees providing advice and guidance on a range of HR issues/queries such as disciplinary, grievance, sickness and performance management


- Assist and support in ensuring effective case management that meets employee, service and organisational needs


- Provide workforce information and statistics


- Assist in the administration of training and apprenticeships

About you


This position is ideal for an HR professional looking to broaden their experience and skill set as a HR generalist. Bringing knowledge, passion and innovation to the role, you will be able to quickly assimilate information, build effective working relationships, be very organized with excellent attention to detail. You must have a good understanding of UK employment law, and be well organized, proactive and able to work effectively with a range of different stakeholders; managers, internal communications and the wider HR team.




You will need strong IT skills and very good communication skills, together with a high degree of personal organisation and the ability to multi-task.




You must have HR experience (either as an administrator or advisor). CIPD level 3 or equivalent would be an advantage.
