The department
The Human Resources Team manage employee-related policies, recruitment, training, benefits and facilitate the Firm's compliance with employment law and assist with communication between managers and staff, together with professional and career development via Learning & Development.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a confident, experienced, and proactive Senior level HR Advisor to join our team to cover a period of team absence and support with excess workload. This role will play a key part in providing professional HR guidance across the business, with a focus on employee relations, performance management, recruitment, early careers, and wellbeing.
Your role will involve supporting both employees and line managers, and ensuring HR processes are delivered effectively and in line with employment legislation and the firm's values. The role also includes the opportunity to contribute to wider HR projects and initiatives to support a positive, high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
Lead on a variety of employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, absence management, and performance concerns.
Provide clear, pragmatic advice to line managers on handling complex people issues, ensuring fair and satisfactory outcomes.
Attend meetings, take notes and follow up on any necessary actions, under the advice of our employer adviser.
Performance & Probation Management
Working with managers to address underperformance, including creation and monitoring of performance improvement plans.
Monitor the probation process forms across relevant teams, ensuring timely reviews and effective decision-making.
Flag at an early stage any concerns with probation reviews and ensure appropriate discussions and action is taken.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Supporting the Recruitment Advisor during busy periods to work with hiring managers to support recruitment, from job scoping, attending interviews and through to offer stage.
Support with the design and delivery of selection processes, including administering and evaluating recruitment testing and assessments.
Review the firm's approach to recruitment testing and liaise with Managers across the business to design appropriate tests for different roles and groups
Trainees & Early Careers
Supporting with early careers, trainee and SQE programmes, supporting development and business planning.
Work with Group Heads and the training Principal to monitor progress and address any issues.
Mergers
Support with all work required in the event of a merger (acquisition) during the contract period
Work with the HR Manager and HR Director to conduct HR due diligence exercises including reviewing contracts, policies, benefits, and employee data
Provide advice and support to managers and employees on all TUPE-related matters, including consultation, and the transfer processes.
Coordinate and deliver employee consultation processes as required
Wellbeing & Employee Support
Be an active promoter of employee wellbeing initiatives and mental health awareness.
Provide a supportive and confidential point of contact for employees experiencing difficulties, signposting to internal or external resources as appropriate (e.g. MHFA).
HR Projects
Contribute to and lead HR projects as may be required by the HR Manager and HR Director
General HR duties
Serve as a HR representative for various tasks as outlined above, offering remote and on-site support, advice, and visibility.
Handle day-to-day HR queries from employees and managers, escalating complex issues where needed.
Support all HR and L&D team members with excess workload or during periods of absence.
Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
Proven experience in a generalist HR role at advisor or senior advisor level.
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and practical experience handling ER cases from start to finish.
Confident in coaching and influencing managers at all levels.
Experience in managing recruitment processes, including interviews and assessments.
Track record of supporting early careers or graduate programmes.
Comfortable working independently and managing a varied workload.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a calm, professional approach.
Willing to pitch in and support the team with any tasks required
Desirable:
CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience).
Experience in a multi-site or fast-paced environment.
