About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting early careers and professional development? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where your work directly contributes to organisational success?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our HR Professional Qualification Training Team as a Professional Training HR Advisor. This role is central to coordinating the various stages of our graduate and apprenticeship programmes, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience and a successful qualification journey for our trainees.

You'll be part of a dynamic team that supports over 250 trainees across our London and Newcastle hubs. Working closely with colleagues in Human Resources and Learning, you'll help deliver a robust and supportive programme that enables our trainees to complete their ACA and Apprenticeship qualifications with confidence. The team plays a vital role in advancing the NAO's People Deal and wider strategic goals by enhancing the professional skills of our future workforce.

This is a hands-on role where you'll provide timely and accurate advice across a range of HR and Professional Training processes. You'll also build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including training providers and the ICAEW, to ensure a high-quality experience for our trainees.

About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about professional qualification training and apprenticeships, and who brings a proactive, detail-oriented approach to their work. You'll be a confident communicator with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to delivering excellent service.

Key competencies include:

- A strong interest in HR, professional qualifications, and early careers development.

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy workload and meet key deadlines (e.g. exam data, payroll inputs).

- Meticulous attention to detail and a methodical approach to data accuracy.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion.

- Confidence in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- A team player who embraces inclusivity and collaboration.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyse and present data clearly.

- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to enhance processes and service delivery.

About Us

This is an exciting time to join the National Audit Office (NAO) as we begin our new five-year strategy. The NAO plays an essential role in our democracy. We provide independent assurance to Parliament on government accounts and trusted insights on how well public money is spent.

Our 2025-2030 strategy sets out our ambition to increase our impact on the productivity and resilience of public services, and to improve the quality of financial management and reporting across government. As part of our People Team, you'll be contributing to this mission by supporting the development of the next generation of public sector professionals.

How to apply

Please submit an up to date CV and covering letter of no more than two pages on how you meet the key person criteria listed above.

We expect to hold assessment and interviews on 21st July 2025.
