Working hours will be 08:30 - 17:30hrs Monday to Friday - Office-based



Job brief



Our HR team requires an HR Assistant on a 1 year contract (with potential to extend). The role involves providing support to the team and is a standalone role that requires in-person work due to its nature.

To be successful in this role, you should be highly organised, have a friendly approach but confidential manner is required, hard-working and have a willingness to support other departments as and when required.

Key Responsibilities



Employment HR



Assisting the HR Manager with the process of recruitment, including vetting candidates and performing interviews

Processing new starters, preparing and issuing employment contracts, ensuring all necessary forms are completed and arranging online courses

Conducting 5-year background checks on new starters

Compiling and maintaining paper, digital and electronic employee records including holiday and sickness leave

The ability to process the payroll and process leavers if required

Entering employee data into the HR system and ensuring records are maintained and kept up to date

Continuously learn the latest HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency

Collating and processing weekly timesheets

Managing temporary recruitment agencies, overseeing and collating weekly timesheets, scanning information to the agency and responding to queries as required

Handling dismissals, grievances, disciplinaries and welfare meetings as they arise

Work together with Employment Lawyers or seek legal advice as required

Annual Performance reviews for employees

Health & Safety



Compliance with Health and Safety and employee wellbeing including risk assessments, warehouse accreditation, maintaining staff records, booking and overseeing staff training

Work together with the General/ Warehouse Manager to review all work procedures and ensure they meet Health & Safety standards

Conducting in house training on Health & Safety awareness

Responsible for staff inductions and first day walk arounds

Stay up to date with Health & Safety regulations

Other



Providing administrative support to the warehouse team and other admin staff as required

Managing sensitive and confidential information

Eagerness and willingness to learn and develop within the role

Skill and Qualities



Previous HR and Health & Safety knowledge

Min GCSE requirement

CIPD or working towards preferable but no essential

Ability to work accurately, under pressure to tight deadlines, be motivated, work flexibly, be open-minded and have a positive pragmatic attitude

Ability to work unsupervised, prioritise own work and resolve queries.

Excellent communication skills and conflict resolution

Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

Strong IT skills

Impeccable writing skills and attention to detail
