Role Overview





David MacBrayne HR UK Ltd provides HR, payroll and crewing services to all David MacBrayne Ltd Group companies, which employ a total of c. 2000 staff.



The purpose of the HR Assistant role is to provide comprehensive support to the HR Business Partner and HR Manager in all aspects of the work of the HR department, but with particular focus on absence management administration, recruitment administration, the maintenance of HR system records and pension administration.


Principal accountabilities




Responding to general HR queries from both employees and managers. Taking personal ownership for resolving issues, but escalating where appropriate to an HRBP or member of the senior HR team Updating employee records on the payroll system Administration of staff travel passes Raising Purchase Orders for the department Pension Administration - liaising with the Company Pension Administrators, new entrants to the scheme and leavers Carrying out any other duties as required to assist in the smooth running of the HR department



Qualifications, skills and experience



Good educational background, good standard of written and spoken English essential Computer literate, familiarity with Microsoft Office applications Numerate, able to manipulate, analyse and present data to provide meaningful management information Able to work accurately and demonstrate attention to detail Able to work flexibly on both routine and more complex tasks Able to remain calm under pressure Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to listen carefully and respond appropriately to customer queries Good problem-solving skills * Able to work collaboratively as part of a team and proactive in offering assistance to colleagues
