PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 60,000 - 75,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Responsible for leading the HR professional area, embedding evidence-based practice and addressing key people challenges within its remit. It supports organisational effectiveness by developing and implementing solutions aligned to strategic objectives, while championing the HR vision and role-modelling exceptional leadership. The position plays a critical role in ensuring the HR Operating Model is successfully embedded across the organisation. In addition, this role provides dedicated support to teams across the East and West Midlands, as well as the North West and North East regions.

You'll partner with senior leaders to tackle real-time challenges and shape long-term strategic change. From driving organisational transformation to enabling high-performing teams, your work will be varied and rewarding. We're looking for someone with strong relationship skills, strategic insight, and hands-on HR expertise to help shape the BBC's future.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Contribute to, and where accountable, define policies and processes that support the BBC and divisional strategy and objectives.
  • Use and understand BBC tools and policies, engaging with divisional clients effectively to ensure their use across the organisation.
  • Motivate consistency of approach across the BBC in attracting, managing and developing talent to support current and future organisational needs.
  • Work closely with all BBC HR colleagues to ensure that tools and policies are aligned, enhance employee engagement and ultimately improve performance.
  • Use data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of tools and policies and understand the landscape for further improvement.
  • Provide specialist input across a range of HR issues (generalist/specific expertise); Design and deliver effective solutions that meet the needs of the business.
  • Coach and build the capability of senior managers to anticipate and pre-empt organisational issues.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Relevant HR experience (generalist or specialist) gained in large complex organisation(s) with multiple stakeholders (including matrix relationships), including specific experience in end-to-end transformation and complex ER case management.
  • Knowledge of current thinking in HR issues and trends and evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Extensive experience of operating in a business partner model, working with local managers to create positive business outcomes.
  • Able to take the initiative, originate action and be responsible for the decisions made.
  • Communicates challenges and influences a variety of stakeholders effectively. Ability to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others. Can draw from a range of strategies to persuade people in a way that results in agreement or behaviour change.
  • Adapts and works effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups. Is able to understand and appreciate different perspectives on an issue, to adapt an approach as the requirements of a situation change, to change or easily accept changes in one's own organisation or job requirements.
