We are seeking two experienced HR Business Partners to join our teams working to support the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
In this busy, varied role you will advise managers of all levels on operational aspects of HR management and contribute to the development of corporate HR policy in order to achieve the aims of our HR Strategy and University Plan. HR is truly valued at the University and you will work closely with a group of stakeholders within the Faculty who will proactively seek your input and advice.
We are recruiting at both HR Business Partner levels (Grade I and J) and will appoint according to the candidate's skills and experience. The I level role is for those who have less experience of business partnering and will require more support. The more senior role is suited to individuals who can demonstrate significant experience as an HR Business Partner, with the ability to operate autonomously, manage complex casework, and lead on large-scale restructuring and organisational change initiatives.
One role is full time (35 hrs pw) until 31st July 2026 but we will consider applications from those willing to work at least 0.7FTE (24.5 hrs pw). The second role is part time (28 hrs pw) for six months.
As these roles are fixed term contracts, we're seeking candidates who can quickly adapt and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
What will you be doing?
---------------------------
Working in partnership with your designated area of the Faculty, you will build strong relationships with key managers to support strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with the local finance team, you will lead on workforce planning and provide analysis and interpretation of HR management information. You will also take responsibility for managing organisational reviews and supporting the delivery of academic procedures at both School and Faculty level.
The role includes advising on employment legislation and contributing to the effective communication and implementation of new or updated HR policies and procedures. A critical element of the role involves providing expert advice, guidance, and support to internal stakeholders on a range of employee relations matters, including misconduct, underperformance, attendance, and capability issues.
You should apply if
-----------------------
You will have proven experience in a similar role as an HR Business Partner, along with a strong understanding of the higher education sector or a comparable complex environment. You will be adept at managing a demanding caseload and have a track record of effectively partnering with managers at all levels within a multifaceted organisation. A flexible and collaborative approach is essential, as is a commitment to contributing positively to a supportive team culture.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and confidently to a range of stakeholders.
In return, the University offers an excellent benefits package, including:
40 days of annual leave per year (including bank holidays)
Automatic enrolment into a highly competitive pension scheme
Flexible hybrid working arrangements
An inclusive and welcoming culture that values diversity of thought, experience, and background
