Forestry and Land Scotland's People Management team is busy and fast paced, which plays a key role in the delivery of a quality, comprehensive HR service to all employees at Forestry and Land Scotland. The team have a key role to play in partnering our business areas, supporting Forestry and Land Scotland through employee relations matters, end to end recruitment processes and through the development of talent and resourcing solutions.
Our team comprises of 5 x HR Business Partners and 3 x HR Advisors. The People Management team is an integral part of the wider People Team and we work closely with the other functions such as: Resourcing & Talent, Learning & Development, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Payroll, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, HR Systems and MI, HR Policy and the Change team.
As an Executive Agency of Scottish Government (SG), we also work closely with SG colleagues in HR, Resourcing and Security too.

Job description
Our HR Business Partners (HRBPs) provide great customer service through working in partnership with designated business functions located across Scotland for Forestry and Land Scotland on all people management matters.
This post will provide HR Partnering support to at least one of the five regions of Scotland; North, East, West, Central and South. You will have specific responsibility for providing professional people management advice, coaching and support to all of your business areas. This includes leading on complex case management, workforce planning and resource planning, employee engagement, job evaluation and supporting a range of organisational change projects. All this work will go towards the implementation of our People Strategy.
Your communication and engagement with the business will be an essential part of the role and you will have regular meetings with various stakeholders. To help you with this, you will produce and present statistical reports that analyse several workforce metrics, identifying upcoming trends and helping to plan for the management of these.
Working with your colleagues within the wider People Team is important too so, you will also need to work collaboratively with the other People Team functions.
This role is a key part of the business areas and you will need to have the ability to travel to across Scotland (some overnight stays will be needed too). Given the frequency of travel and geographical spread of the role, would ideally like the role to be located at our one of our main offices in Edinburgh or Inverness office; however, we would consider some flexibility on this. Home working as also supported as part of our Smarter Working arrangements.

Person specification
Experience
Essential:
People Management experience in a similar role or an HR Manager role.
Experience of operating in a business partner model and working with local managers to create positive business outcomes.
Strong team leadership, motivational and communication skills especially with a diverse range of staff.
Experience in coordinating and managing complex employee relations matters within a fast-paced environment
Ability to analyse and present HR data to support evidence-based decisions, communicating key messages clearly in both written reports and verbal presentations.
Desirable:
Experience of working within Civil or Public sector HR
Experience of leading on or being part of workforce planning exercises
An understanding of HR information systems (e.g., iTrent) for interrogation and workforce analytics
Ability to lead or contribute to HR-related projects such as restructures, policy reviews, or diversity initiatives.
