We are seeking a skilled and compassionate HR Manager/Consultant to oversee and manage the human resource functions for our Ofsted-regulated residential children's home. This role will support a team of approximately 60 staff and self employed contractors members who are dedicated to providing exceptional care for children in a safe, nurturing environment. The HR Manager/Consultant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the workforce remains motivated, well-trained, and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesHR Strategy & Compliance
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the home's operational goals and Ofsted requirements.
Ensure full compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted standards.
Must have a strong legal understanding of employment laws and up to date compliance law
Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and handbooks in line with legal and regulatory changes.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, ensuring the attraction of high-quality candidates.
Oversee safer recruitment practices, including background checks and compliance with safeguarding protocols.
Develop and execute robust onboarding processes to integrate new staff effectively.
Training & Development
Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs, including safeguarding and care-related training.
Ensure all mandatory training is up-to-date and compliant with Ofsted standards.
Promote career progression and skill development opportunities for staff.
Employee Relations & Wellbeing
Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
Implement initiatives to promote staff wellbeing and reduce turnover.
Performance Management
Oversee performance reviews, appraisals, and goal-setting for all employees.
Provide coaching and support to managers in addressing performance issues.
Develop recognition programs to reward and motivate staff.
HR Administration & Data Management
Maintain accurate employee records, including contracts, training logs, and performance data.
Prepare HR reports and analytics to support management decisions.
Ensure GDPR compliance in the management of sensitive employee information.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess HR metrics and provide data-driven insights.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience with minimum 3 years experience as an HR Manager, ideally within a residential care or Ofsted-regulated setting.
Strong knowledge of employment law, safeguarding practices, and safer recruitment processes.
Experience in managing complex employee relations cases.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
