Hr Consultant

Bournemouth, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

As an experienced Human Resources professional, you will provide support to clients on all aspects of their key resource; their people. You will have knowledge of employment law and an ability to communicate your advice in plain English with no legal jargon or obsession with best practice. Our business is successful because our clients like us to advise with the commercial requirements of their business in mind; with best practice, case law and statute being their secondary interests and motivators. You will therefore require the ability to give various solutions to a people problem and discuss the pros and cons of each advised course of action.

Whilst providing sound advice is a key element of the role, you'll also be the lead on various client projects, for example, developing culture & wellbeing practices, implementing HR systems, recruitment including writing job adverts, screening interviews and support at face-to-face interviews, carrying out HR Audits and writing reports, creating and implementing employee review processes.

We also offer 1-2-1 or group training and workshops on all aspects of people management, so you'll need to be comfortable and preferably have experience in delivering training to small groups. Experience in creating training sessions would be desirable too.

Whilst there is no 'target' to hit, we expect all Gurus to participate in client account management/retention and business development in attracting and closing new clients and leads.

In brief, your HR duties will include:

Dealing with incoming enquiries Being the first point of contact on HR queries Being a face-to-face 'Outsourced' HR Guru in companies spanning various industries (this may involve early starts and late finishes dependant on client's location & requirements) Being an 'Ad Hoc' HR Guru in one-off HR crises Providing clear, consistent HR advice, guidance and practical support Confidently and professionally delivering training solutions Creating and writing HR documentation, policies and implementing projects Developing and implementing innovative HR processes that align with the client's brand and goals Managing a variety of HRIS for clients Staying on top of changes in statute and case law and reporting these to the team in regular developmental updates
As you will be joining a growing business that receives 100% of its income from referrals and recommendations, a strong element of networking and attending business events is involved in the role, with a view to building long-term relationships with prospective clients and introducers. Some of these events may start early or finish late, but we plan them well enough in advance.

Your business development duties will include:

Representing the Company at networking meetings to help the business grow Supporting the Company with marketing support in the form of writing material for newsletters, email updates and PR articles on HR topics Building a portfolio of clients through attendance at networking events, seminars, and receiving referrals
Educated to degree level or equivalent you will have at least 5 years' experience of working in an advisory/business partner role within a Human Resources department. You will be aware of the issues that people managers face and be confident and knowledgeable in providing practical solutions to those issues. You will be proficient in Microsoft applications, Human Resources Information Systems and have an extremely high level of attention to detail. You will be a confident and friendly communicator, with the ability to advise credibly and professionally one day, yet have the discretion and sensitivity to work with employees affected by redundancy or facing disciplinary action the next.

This role offers the unique opportunity to massively increase your HR experience, where no two clients, and certainly no two days are ever the same! You will have an opportunity to develop your role as well as your career with the Company, so we are looking for someone who is ready to step-up to their next challenge, with long-term ambition who is wanting to join a forward-thinking company.

The majority of the role will either be spent in the office (minimum of two days each week) and the remaining time working from your own home with other times on-site with clients depending on the needs day-to-day.

You will be expected to work hard, but we also play hard at Streetwise HR. As a small team we have worked hard to create a strong, open and honest culture where we communicate regularly, we don't take ourselves too seriously and we have a very close working relationship where we share our knowledge and experience, and support each other inside and outside of work.

This role would report to the MD of this company and will work for the HR Directors day-to-day; it is not for the faint-hearted! However, if you have a passion for people, and an enthusiasm to offer people solutions, we'd love to talk to you!
