Milfeddygon ProStock Vets is an independently owned, dedicated farm animal veterinary practice. Started in 2011, we are a well-established and growing practice, with branches in Carmarthen, Llangadog, Eglwyswrw, Lampeter, Whitland and Gorseinon. With a team of 60 dedicated professionals, we strive to maintain a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic working environment. We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to establish and lead our HR function from the ground up.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to develop the HR function, be part of shaping the culture within our practice and drive a positive employee experience.
As our HR Manager, you will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with our business needs. You will oversee all aspects of HR, for the full employee lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Compliance
- Ensure the practice is compliant with the latest employment laws and regulations, policies and procedures
Handbooks, Policies and Contracts
- Develop and maintain employee handbooks,workplace policies and contract management pertaining to the full employee lifecycle
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, from job postings to interviews and onboarding new team members
Remuneration and Benefits
- Oversee payroll processing, manage wages, salaries, and benefits administration
Performance Management
- Implement and oversee appraisal systems, performance reviews, and professional development plans
Employee Relations
- Act as the point of contact for HR-related queries, providing support and guidance and best practices. You'll address employee issues, provide constructive feedback, and promote a positive working environment.
Engagement & Retention
- Foster a positive workplace culture, focusing on employee engagement and long-term retention
Training & Development
- Identify and implement training programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge and professional regulations.
Leadership Coaching:
Coaching management to become strong people-leaders to drive a positive employee experience
Health & Safety
: Work alongside management to ensure compliance with HSWA
Practice Culture
: Build a positive and supportive culture that promotes teamwork, professionalism and job satisfaction
About You
We are looking for a proactive and experienced HR professional who thrives on having responsibility. The ideal candidate will have:
Experience
- Strong HR management experience, ideally within a medical profession setting or professional environment. Experience of setting up an HR function from scratch or working in a standalone position is highly desirable
Qualifications
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. CIPD qualification is desirable
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational skills. A keen eye for detail and a real self-starter.
Adaptability
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
Passion
- A genuine interest in supporting and developing an independently owned veterinary team.
