National Learning Group is one of the UK's leading online tutoring providers. We support thousands of students each year and are expanding fast, with a team of 33 office staff and over 350 online tutors. As we grow, we need an experienced and capable HR Officer to support our team, improve our systems, and help us maintain high standards across the board.
The Role
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to take real ownership of day-to-day HR operations in our office based in Prudhoe. You'll be involved in recruitment, onboarding, training, attendance tracking, employee relations, policy compliance, and helping to build a positive culture. You'll also support aspects of tutor HR - especially around policies, contracts, and offboarding. You'll work closely with senior staff, line managers, and the wider team to ensure HR processes are clear, compliant, and effective.
Key Responsibilities
Office Team (33 staff):
Coordinate recruitment, interviews, and onboarding
Monitor attendance and support performance tracking
Manage day-to-day HR queries from staff and line managers
Ensure policies, procedures, and records are compliant and up to date
Support training, appraisals, disciplinaries, and grievances
Lead offboarding and exit reviews
Contribute to staff wellbeing, culture, and morale initiatives
Manage payroll and recordkeeping
Tutor Workforce (350+ self-employed):
Communicate tutor policies and updates
Support terminations during training or for performance reasons
Handle tutor contract and compliance queries
Manage tutor reference requests and referral processes
Work alongside recruitment and safeguarding teams to improve retention and consistency
Person Specification
HR experience in a fast-paced environment (education or service sector a bonus)
Good working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
Professional, confidential, and solutions-focused
Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organised, with attention to detail
CIPD Level 3 or above preferred (or working towards it)

Starting salary of 27,000+ depending on experience.
