We are Cinch Self-Storage. From our humble beginnings, with a single store in Bicester in February 2018, we have grown to over 23 self-storage sites across the UK and are expanding steadily. At the heart of our growth is a commitment to exceptional service and a genuine team spirit. We put our people at the centre of everything we do.
To support our continued success, we're now looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our growing team. This is a key role, working alongside our Chief People Officer (CPO), to deliver and evolve our HR service across the business.
Our Values:
Put the customer first, always.
Provide honest & impartial advice.
Engage & contribute to our local communities.
Remain positive & fun.
These values don't just shape how we treat our customers--they're at the core of how we support our teams.
HR Manager Role:
Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, the HR Manager will be responsible for delivering day-to-day HR operations across our store network and support functions. The focus of this role is to provide practical, responsive support to managers and employees while helping to embed the company's HR strategy.
This is a varied and hands-on generalist role, suited to someone with strong HR experience who is confident managing the full employee lifecycle--from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and reward. You'll be the first point of contact for managers seeking guidance, and you'll provide professional and practical advice that supports both compliance and our company culture.
While the CPO leads on company-wide initiatives, your focus will be on keeping our people processes running smoothly, ensuring that everything from recruitment to performance management is handled effectively and in line with best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers across the business
Manage employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance and absence management, up to and including dismissals
Oversee recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes
Support the development and consistent application of HR policies and procedures
Advise on performance, conduct, wellbeing and engagement matters
Support the company's approach to pay and reward, including annual reviews and benchmarking
Ensure compliance with employment law and internal governance
Contribute to company-wide people initiatives and support the delivery of the HR strategy
Maintain accurate employee records and support HR reporting as needed
This role profile is not exhaustive; employees are expected to remain flexible and carry out duties reasonably aligned with the level and responsibilities of their role.
About You
We're looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, growing business. You'll need to be confident working independently, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of making decisions that support both the business and its people.
You will have:
Experience working in a HR manager or senior generalist HR role, with full ER capability
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
A hands-on, solutions-focused approach with excellent judgement
The ability to build strong working relationships across a dispersed workforce
Great organisational and communication skills--both written and verbal
Experience supporting recruitment, performance management, and employee engagement
Competence with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, and HR systems
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Experience working in a small business or scale-up environment is preferred but not essential. What matters most is a can-do attitude and a willingness to get stuck in.
Location & Working Pattern
This is a full-time, permanent role. You will be home-based, but with regular travel (approx. 3 days per week) to stores and sites across North & West London and the Home Counties. To support this, we are ideally looking for someone based in or around Watford.
