HR Officer

The Role
The HR Officer, reporting into the HR Manager, will be responsible for general HR activities as directed by the HR Manager and HR Director, including helping to deliver key post-recruitment HR activities and helping to support the wider employee lifecycle. This includes helping with onboarding, maintaining accurate employee records, supporting payroll activities, and assisting with policy implementation. This is a hands-on, generalist role ideal for someone with strong HR administration and general HR experience and a passion for supporting people and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting the onboarding and induction process for new starters.
Maintaining accurate HR records and helping the HR team to ensure compliance with company policies and UK employment legislation.
Supporting payroll administration and employee benefits, including updates to employee information, having an in-depth working knowledge of ADP.
Assisting in the creation, implementation, and review of HR policies and procedures.
Responding to HR-related queries, providing guidance and escalating issues where appropriate.
Supporting employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary processes, and note-taking.
Helping the HR team to monitor key HR metrics such as absence, turnover, and engagement.
Aiding the HR team to ensure a seamless transition from offer stage to onboarding of new recruits.
Working within the HR team to contribute to staff engagement initiatives, training sessions, and wellbeing programmes.
Person Specification
Previous experience in an HR Officer role.
At least CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent.
Solid knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
High level of discretion and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in using HR systems (including ADP).
Desirable:
Experience working in a fast-paced or SME environment.
Familiarity with employee engagement and wellbeing initiative.
