Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Officer to assist and deliver the full spectrum of HR services across our Build to Rent portfolio. With a workforce of over 200 employees spread across offices, satellite sites, and remote locations, this role is critical in ensuring consistent, compliant, and people-focused HR practices that support our operational and strategic goals.The HR Officer will act as a central point of contact for all HR matters, driving employee engagement, supporting line managers, and ensuring the business remains compliant with employment legislation and best practice. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, excellent communication, and a passion for building a high-performing, inclusive workplace culture.2. Role Responsibility & accountabilities
Assist the HR Manager to lead the delivery of HR services across the business, ensuring consistency and compliance across all locations.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and line managers on all HR matters including employee relations, performance, and workforce planning.
Manage and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and systems to reflect current legislation and business needs.
Oversee onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for new hires.
Conduct new starter inductions and feed into the process to ensure that it is effective
Support managers with performance management processes, including appraisals, development plans, and capability procedures.
Lead on employee relations cases including grievances, disciplinaries, and investigations, ensuring fair and legally compliant outcomes.
Champion employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, wellbeing programmes, and internal communications.
Maintain oversight of training and development activity, identifying skills gaps and coordinating relevant learning opportunities.
Ensure accurate and timely HR reporting, including headcount, turnover, absence, and diversity metrics.
Manage HR systems and records, ensuring data integrity and GDPR compliance.
Coordinate payroll inputs and liaise with finance to ensure accurate monthly processing.
Assist with change management initiatives including restructures, TUPE, and organisational development.
Support the development of a strong employer brand and contribute to talent attraction strategies.
Ensure compliance with UK employment law and advise on legislative changes impacting the business.
Liaise with external providers including legal advisors, occupational health, and training consultants.
Travel to regional offices and sites as required to support managers and staff in person.
Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in HR, with experience in a standalone or managerial role.
CIPD Level 5 (Level 7 desirable) or equivalent qualification.
Proven experience managing employee relations cases and advising senior stakeholders.
Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
Experience working across multi-site or remote teams.
Familiarity with HR systems and data reporting.
