Chartwell Trust Care runs a number of residential care homes and supported living services throughout Leicester and the South East, supporting individuals with complex behaviours, Autism, and/or learning disabilities. Every day will be different as you are required to work in a person centred way and liaise with Managers and staff to ensure all needs are met. This role is challenging but does bring a sense of satisfaction like no other. You'll be able to think outside of the box, coming up with creative solutions and new ways of working.

The Role



We are looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on HR Officer to join our team based at our Head Office in Leicester. You will be responsible for delivering proactive, high-quality HR support, acting as the first point of contact for Managers and employees in all HR related matters.



The HR Officer will provide hands-on support across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including sickness absence monitoring, grievances, performance management, and other employee engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:



HR Operations:



Lead all aspects of HR, acting as first point of contact for Managers and staff. In collaboration with Management, undertake and provide support in investigations and formal meetings. Manage the HR inbox, ensuring timely and professional responses, escalating any complex issues to the Employee Services Manager. Administer HR systems, ensuring that HR processes and policies are applied consistently across the company. Complete the full onboarding process for new starters and offboarding for leavers, ensuring all checklists are completed. Maintain accurate employee records in line with GDPR. Prepare HR documentation including contracts and letters. Stay current with industry trends and best practices in HR.

Recruitment & Onboarding:



Oversee and support the Recruitment Assistant in facilitating end-to-end recruitment, from advertising to selection, covering that role during holidays and sickness where necessary.
Recognise the importance of safeguarding within the organisation, assisting with the checking of staff and right to work documents and DBS processes.

Employee Relations:



Guiding and assisting Managers in employee relations including absence management, capability, disciplinaries and grievances, and absence/sickness cases in a timely and compliant manner. Support absence management processes, including compiling return-to-work documentation and identifying absence trigger levels and escalating where necessary.

Wellbeing



Promote employee engagement and wellbeing through effective communication and HR initiatives and coordinate Occupational Health assessments where required. Promote a positive culture aligned with company values.

Wider Business Support



Provide telephone cover and general office administration when required.

About You



At least 2 years' experience in a generalist HR role (care sector experience desirable but not essential) CIPD Level 3 or equivalent experience (beneficial but not essential) Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practice Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills Proactive, organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a small HR team
