The UCL Academy, located in Camden, London, is a vibrant and forward-thinking school committed to providing an outstanding education that inspires and empowers our students. We are currently seeking a part-time Human Resources Officer to join our dedicated team and support the effective management of particular HR functions within the school. Please note this role is a maternity cover for one year in the first instance.
As a Human Resources Officer at The UCL Academy, you will play a key role in supporting recruitment, employee relations, appraisals, and legal compliance. This position requires someone who is organised, proactive, and able to work collaboratively with staff across all levels. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of UK employment law and best HR practices within education, excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively while managing multiple deadlines.

Key duties:
-Manage and ensure compliance with recruitment practices, including safer recruitment, right to work, and safeguarding checks; supporting recruitment where necessary;
-Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related queries including grievances, absences management, conflict resolution etc.;
-Oversee the annual performance appraisal process, ensuring alignment with school objectives and facilitating staff development opportunities.
-Review and update HR policies to comply with changes in employment law, ensuring statutory compliance with safeguarding and data protection requirements.
-Produce HR reports and manage statutory returns (e.g., workforce census), supporting audits and inspections related to HR and safeguarding.
