LOCATION: Office Base is Birmingham (This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working). Consideration may be given to base in London, Salford, Cardiff, Glasgow or Belfast.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 42,500 - 50,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights
Purpose of The Role

We are seeking experienced ER Case Specialists to support the BBC as a great place to work through delivery of workplace conflict resolution, case management and employee engagement.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Working in the new Resolution Centre, you'll work with Triage/Tier 2 HR Business Partners to handle medium risk employee relations cases such as disciplinaries, appeals, underperformance, misconduct and health and attendance
  • You'll be the single point of contact for each case, ensuring that all involved understands their role, information is treated with confidentiality and sensitivity and regular updates are provided
  • You'll provide managers with professional advice, support and guidance, using your coaching skills to improve leadership confidence and capability and drive better outcomes
  • You'll support managers with drafting correspondence, including investigation reports and outcome letters, ensuring alignment with BBC policy and processes
  • You'll scrutinise and assess complaints and cases, ensuring that case documentation and communication is accurately recorded, timely and complies with BBC policy and statutory requirements
  • Working with specialist support teams e.g. wellbeing, legal and investigations to ensure appropriate measures are in place to promote participation and psychological safety for all parties
  • Continuously share knowledge and experiences with colleagues enabling development across teams, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practice
  • Ensure BBC Values are upheld in the conduct of our work, coaching and supporting all involved
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
  • A self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to build rapport with a range of stakeholders, promoting confidence in our approach to resolving workplace issues
  • Proven experience in employee relations case management and a solid understanding of HR practices, including employment case handling
  • You can plan, manage, and support critical time-sensitive HR activities and projects effectively
  • A confident communicator, capable of producing clear, empathetic reports and presentations simplifying complex information
  • You've held roles such as HR Specialist or HR Advisor, or similar with people responsibilities and investigation experience in complex environments like legal, psychology, social work, or trade unions
  • Ability to work as part of a team and ability to work autonomously in fast-paced settings
Proactive, solution-focused, and able to build strong relationships * You're a role model of BBC Values with high level of emotional intelligence and compassionate approach
  • Ability to manage multiple cases concurrently, and are committed to continuous professional development
DESIRABLE
  • MCIPD or equivalent educational achievement (Level 7) plus experience
  • Working experience in centralised or specialist Employee Relations or case management team e.g. litigation or workplace investigations
  • Experience of working with People systems e.g. SAP
  • Experience and accreditation in mediation, coaching or focus group facilitation
