HR Team Leader

to play a pivotal role in shaping our people experience and leading our Operational HR team.

From fresh consignments to frozen goods, STEF Langdons has logistics covered. We deliver to almost any location in the UK or Ireland within 24 hours, operating from 11 depots with a fleet of 375+ vehicles.

The role:

As HR Team Leader, you'll lead the Operational HR team in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused, and legally compliant HR service. You'll manage day-to-day HR operations, support managers across the business, and act as the escalation point for complex employee matters.

What you'll be doing:




Lead, motivate, and develop the HR team to deliver an effective, consistent, and professional HR service. Allocate workload and monitor performance to ensure service standards and deadlines are met. Provide coaching and guidance to team members, supporting their professional development. Conduct regular team meetings and one-to-ones, ensuring clear communication and alignment with HR objectives. Oversee and support the delivery of all HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and change initiatives. Act as the first point of escalation for complex HR cases, providing expert advice and solutions. Ensure compliance with employment law, company policies, and best practice across all HR activities. Champion staff wellbeing and engagement initiatives across the organisation. Support the HR & Payroll Manager in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures. Ensure HR documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders. Monitor and analyse HR metrics and trends, providing reports and recommendations to the HR & Payroll Manager. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-effective solutions.

What we're looking for:




CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience) Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice Proven experience in a senior HR role covering the full HR lifecycle Previous experience leading or supervising a team (desirable) Confident leader with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop others Comfortable working with employees at all levels in a customer-focused environment Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR data analysis Excellent communication and influencing skills Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
