Summary
As a H&S Advisor you will support several projects to meet the requirements of the Safety Quality and Environment Management systems. The role will also involve assisting the site teams and managers by recognising hazards and seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining, and improving the health, safety, environmental and Quality standards. You will champion H&S initiatives in the workplace whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to. An essential part of the role is to conduct audits on site to ensure H&S standards are being held.
Responsibilities
Contribute to general communications at a local
level
Produce and communicate safety alerts following incidents to promote learning and prevention
Accident/incident investigations
Undertake timely investigations
Keep local and corporate management informed on status
Identify root causes
Produce safety alerts as above
Adherence to all deadlines set
Key relationships: Operations Director and Contracts Managers, Site team
Qualifications
NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification
Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation
Excellent report presentation and writing skills
Ability to conduct root cause analysis effectively
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
First aid certification is highly desirable
Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
Essentials
Good communication skills, including professional telephone manner
Ability to liaise with staff and operatives at all levels
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office package
CSCS Safety Professional card
Ability to work as a member of a team, but also capable of working alone
High quality standards, e.g., attention to detail
Ability to lead by/set a good example
