You will lead, develop and maintain the company's HSE management programmes and systems to ensure health and safety and environmental standards are always met.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Compliance
Develop, implement, and monitor the company's HSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Lead audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
Health & Safety Management
Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments across operations, projects, and facilities.
Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and competence in HSE matters.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures.
Promote a proactive safety culture with emphasis on prevention and continuous improvement.
Environmental Management
Monitor environmental performance and sustainability initiatives.
Ensure compliance with waste management, emissions, and environmental regulations.
Drive initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable practices.
Leadership & Engagement
Act as the main point of contact for regulatory bodies, clients, and auditors on HSE matters.
Provide leadership and coaching to managers, supervisors, and employees on HSE best practice.
Support emergency preparedness planning and crisis management activities.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels of the business.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Ability to lead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent).
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent professional HSE certification (essential).
Membership of IOSH or similar professional body (desirable).
Proven experience in an HSE leadership role within manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
