The Role
Due to business growth, we have an excellent opportunity for a talented and ambitious Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Group Head of HSE, you will support our
Earthworks
function, playing a key role in driving continual improvement, innovation, and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management.

Responsibilities
Develop and promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
Lead and mentor the HSE team, supporting their professional development and upskilling.
Provide multisite support across projects, ensuring effective implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
Oversee and analyse HSE performance, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and driving continuous improvement.
Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and employee consultations to enhance workplace safety.
Work closely with clients, supply chain partners, and project teams to maintain high HSE standards.
Deliver training, cultural campaigns, and awareness initiatives to embed a proactive HSE mindset.
In addition to these core responsibilities, you will be instrumental in shaping strategic HSE plans, advising on CDM 2015 requirements, and ensuring alignment with MJ Church's management systems. You will chair HSE meetings, provide hands-on support to operational teams, and champion innovation in health and safety practices.
Who you are
This role requires a confident and knowledgeable HSE professional with strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team across multiple sites. You will need excellent communication abilities, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a keen eye for detail to ensure compliance and drive best practices.
NEBOSH qualification and IOSH membership.
CSCS Card
Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, compliance, and best practices.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively.
Full UK Driving Licence
Must be based in the South of the UK
Desirable
Highways Experience;
GradIOSH/ CMIOSH or working towards;
NVQ L5/6, Diploma or Degree qualified;
