. We are seeking a
highly experienced HSE Manager
to take ownership of all site health, safety, and environmental activities ensuring compliance, promoting a world-class safety culture, and providing strategic leadership to multidisciplinary teams across construction, mechanical, and commissioning phases.
Role Overview
As the
HSE Manager
, you will be the focal point for all Health, Safety, and Environmental matters on site. You will be responsible for developing and implementing site-wide HSE policies, coordinating with EPC contractors, ensuring legal compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of operational safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project-specific HSE management systems.
Provide expert advice on all HSE matters to the Project Director and senior leadership team.
Oversee site audits, inspections, risk assessments, and method statement reviews.
Monitor compliance with CDM Regulations, ISO 45001, and environmental standards.
Drive proactive safety initiatives and lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
Liaise with contractors, client representatives, and local authorities to ensure best practice and alignment across all stakeholders.
Promote a strong, positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and visible leadership on site.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
? Minimum
relevant
experience
in a Health, Safety & Environmental management role on
major industrial, power generation, or process plant projects
.
?
Energy from Waste (EfW) experience is essential.
Applications without EfW experience will not be considered.
? NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification).
? Membership of IOSH (Chartered or working towards CMIOSH).
? Demonstrable knowledge of
CDM Regulations, COMAH, and Environmental Permitting Regulations
.
? Strong communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
? Proven ability to engage effectively with EPC contractors and multi-disciplinary project teams.
Desirable Experience
Previous work on
turbine halls, boiler islands, or flue gas treatment systems
.
Familiarity with
construction and commissioning phases
of EfW or process plants.
Experience managing HSE systems on
EPC or turnkey projects
.
ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 internal auditor certification.
