Wood is currently looking for a Human Factors Specialist to join our System Integration (SI) team within out Digital Consulting business supporting across our UK projects.


This role is available on a hybrid basis with Tuesday's and Wednesday to be in one of the following hub office locations: Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines.


Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role



The Human Factors Specialist will provide Human Factors responsibility to ensure project compliance with client and Wood specifications, applicable code requirements, and national/international standards.

The Key Objectives of this role are:



Act as primary contact and manage human factors activities on projects to ensure timely and appropriate input into design and assurance activities. Act as the interface with other disciplines at the project level, providing expertise in design and peer review processes. Facilitate or participate in human factors assessments, including level 1 & 2 screening, valve criticality analysis, operator usability workshop, task analysis workshop, conducting user research, human error analysis, usability testing, safe working design study, staffing & human resource management review, control room analysis & design review, human machine interfaces design & review, alarm systems analysis & review, and safety critical task analysis. Produce or review HFE deliverables, including human factors integration plan, human factors issue list, terms of reference for HFE workshops, etc. Provide human factors input and support in safety workshops like CHAZOP, EHAZID, FMEA, HAZOP, LOPA, etc. Proficiency in using relevant software tools and technologies (e.g SHERPA software) for human factors engineering and ergonomics analysis. Track and control manhours for human factors activities. Produce technical and progress reports. Assist project management in developing the project schedule. Support project performance by monitoring key performance indicators, such as cost and schedule performance. Act as the primary contact for clients, ensuring their satisfaction and requirements are met

Expected:



Degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, or other relevant science or engineering discipline with demonstrable experience. Relevant experience, within the oil & gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure sectors. Ability to prioritise tasks effectively to manage multiple projects running concurrently. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in human factors and ergonomics Strong understanding of cognitive and physical human capabilities Strong understanding of human-centred design principles Understanding of commercial aspects as related to projects and operations. Excellent communication abilities, with enthusiasm and diplomacy in interactions. Inquisitive, well organised, and have a keen eye for detail Ability to work effectively in an integrated team environment, supporting colleagues and fostering trust and respect within the team. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate ergonomic risks. Familiarity with industry guidelines, standards, and regulations related to human factors engineering and ergonomics, such as Report OGP 454, ISO 9241, ISO 11064, EEMUA 191, EEMUA 203,BS EN 6268 etc

Desirable:



Registered (Chartered) Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors. Experience in designing user interfaces, controls, and displays that maximise user performance and satisfaction. Experience in brownfield upgrades/replacement of automation and control systems projects
