Job Description

To lead the HR function for AESG, providing operational and strategic HR advice and support, and working in partnership with senior leaders to drive school improvement. To be accountable for the recruitment, induction, retention, training, continual professional development, performance management and resignation of all staff. To assist in the development of an inclusive culture which recognises and values the contributions of staff, setting high standards and expectations ensuring that everyone is empowered to do their best. To promote and contribute to the development and implementation of the overall vision, values and aspirations of the school.

Main Duties and Responsibilities



Responsible for line managing, supporting and developing the HR Assistant; ensuring that the administration and operational HR activity taking place meets the high standards expected and is in line with our policies, procedures and ISI requirements. To manage, advise on, and undertake work in relation to highly complex employee relations cases and organisational change, such as; capability, conduct, disciplinary, redundancies, sickness absence, grievances and dismissals. Contribute to development and review of the HR/People strategy and plans and undertake proactive HR work to deliver these. Manage the recruitment of both teaching and non-teaching staff in line with statutory requirements (Safer Recruitment and Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation); prepare and post adverts, prepare job descriptions and application packs, manage applications, arrange interviews and prepare schedules, carry out safer recruitment checks, coordinate the interview day and provide HR support. Manage the onboarding process; offer letters, starter packs, safer recruitment procedures, draft employment contracts, process DBS checks. Seek opportunities to improve & develop activities within the HR lifecycle (how we attract, recruit, manage, develop, train and retain staff). Assist the Headmistress and the DFO with appraisal processes, and manage all related records. To support the Thrive Team to deliver wellbeing initiatives. Develop and deliver training in HR related matters, coaching managers to improve their practice. Report on and manage staff attendance, monitor all absences, analyse absence trends and ensure policies are followed. Conduct return to work interviews. Develop and review HR policies and the staff handbook, considering latest employment law legislation. Responsible for the completion and upkeep of the Central Record (SCR). Ensure current job descriptions and contracts are in place. Responsible for all HR administration: contract change / salary letters, maternity and paternity leave, OHU referrals, staff leavers ensuring ISAMS is up to date and ensuring line managers carry out probationary review meetings and complete required paperwork. Provide support to staff on HR issues as and when required. Maintain confidentiality on all issues relating to HR. Develop constructive relationships and communicate with external professionals e.g. lawyers. Create and facilitate the annual CPD training courses for new and current members of the AESG staff. Ensure records are kept for all CPD for all staff. Work with Health Assured and Work Nest to deliver high quality support to members of the AESG staff, promoting a positive working environment. Maintain records and databases as required by the DFO or Headmistress, including staff records, ensuring that information is up to date, readily accessible, managed in accordance with data protection requirements, and that changes are notified to third parties as required. Support the Headmistress and other members of the Senior Leadership Team on dealing with any performance concerns, disciplinary issues, staffing restructures or redundancy procedures. Keep up to date records of all SLT lesson observations of all teaching staff, ensuring they are completed in the required timescale and recording grades collectively. Maintain records of ECT induction assessment reports for all ECTs, liaising with the School's ECT co-ordinators. Responsible for developing and monitoring HR KPIs. Work/lead on HR projects when required. Represent the HR function at relevant meetings as directed by the Headmistress and the DFO.

General Support for the School



Support the School's commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare at a level appropriate to this role. Be aware of and comply with all policies and procedures relating to health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person. Contribute positively to the overall ethos/work/aims of AESG. Participate in training and undertake any performance development activities as required. Attend and participate in meetings and forums as required, both internally and externally. Be aware of and responsive to the changing needs of the School and maintain a flexible and pro-active approach to work.
You will also be expected to undertake any other related duties as requested by the DFO or Headmistress. Support for other administrative staff at key times in the year may also be required (e.g. school holiday periods).

Qualifications



CIPD Level 5 qualification or relevant Degree Proven experience in human resources management and administration Strong supervisory and management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Pay: 35,000.00-40,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
