Join a long-established, multi-site training, employability, and digital services business based in Gloucester. We're looking for an experienced, adaptable HR Officer who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys working closely with managers and employees. In this standalone role, you'll report directly to the Directors and shape HR practices that support our people and communities.

Why You'll Love This Role

Opportunity to lead and influence all aspects of the HR function in a supportive organisation. Flexible working patterns to fit your lifestyle. Be part of a business with strong values, community impact, and a friendly, experienced team.

What You'll Be Doing

Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, disciplinary, performance, absence, reward, and associated HR administration. Ensure all HR policies and processes are fully compliant with current employment law. Maintain and update our HRIS (Breathe) and produce monthly HR KPIs, analysing trends to support decision-making. Act as Equal Opportunities Officer and champion best practices in diversity and inclusion. Partner with managers to deliver employee engagement initiatives, pay reviews, and change management projects. Provide HR advice confidently in a standalone capacity, supported when necessary by an external Employment Law advice line. Travel occasionally between local centres--your own transport and business insurance are essential.

About You

CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) and willingness to complete an Equal Opportunities & Diversity qualification if not already held. At least 2 years' experience managing complex employee casework, ideally in a multi-site environment. Strong communication skills, approachability, and attention to detail. Solid understanding of current employment law and HR processes, including payroll, pensions, and benefits. Working knowledge of Safer Recruitment processes (desirable). Process-driven with excellent IT and analytical skills.

Working Hours

Standard Office hours: Monday-Friday, 8:45 am-4:45 pm (flexible within these hours). Flexible arrangements available--let's discuss what works best for you. Phone and laptop provided.

Benefits

23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata). Health cash plan (after probation) with access to rewards and discounts. Free on-site parking and paid mileage for travel between centres. DBS/DS check costs covered. Contributory pension scheme. Tailored corporate induction and ongoing development. Supportive, friendly working environment with a strong sense of purpose.

Our Commitment

PTS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults, in line with the Prevent Duty and the positive promotion of modern British values. A DBS/DS check may be required, which we will cover.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity. As proud members of the Armed Forces Covenant, we encourage applications from veterans and reservists.
