Work Skills Learning is a specialist independent education provision working with children and young people aged 16-25 to develop the skills they will eventually need in the world for work. All of the children and young people have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). On leaving us, some will go onto to further study at college, university, apprenticeships or have supported internships, others may enter the world of work.

Job Overview:


We are seeking a

Humanities Teacher

who will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching, through planning engaging lessons to enable all students to make the best possible progress, including those with SEND. They must demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way. In addition, they will be expected to contribute to the routine and extra-curricular life of Work Skills Learning. Work Skills Learning teachers are professionals who carry out their duties responsibly and with regard for the best interests of their students and Work Skills Learning.

Key Responsibilities:



Plan, prepare and deliver purposeful and productive lessons to all students, including at GCSE and A Level and show enthusiasm for your subject in the classroom. Mark work according to Work Skills Learning's marking policies, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of student's progress in their subject. Be fully aware of and compliant with the requirements of the relevant Examination Boards Prepare examination entries in line with the deadlines as given by the Examination Boards Ensure all data is in line with the quality assurance requirements and is gathered throughout the academic year Develop, maintain and stimulate students' curiosity, interest and enjoyment in their subject Enable all students to have equal access to learning and to experience success in their work Develop students' familiarity, competence and confidence with appropriate concepts, principles, methods and vocabulary Provide challenge for every student and encourage all students to achieve their potential Develop students' understanding and applications of their subject in its wider context Make a contribution to and engage in extra-curricular activities (e.g. trips and visits) Share in best practice Willingness to invest extra time to ensure students achieve the best standard

Requirements:



Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching Humanities. Experience in some of the following areas is essential: Humanities Functional Skills Entry Level up to Level 2 | OCR or AQA GCSE and A Level Geography and /or History and/or Sociology. Experience working with SEND students is highly desirable Excellent knowledge of the curriculum and related topics. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in a small setting. A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

The postholder will be required to: Submit an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS). Complete Child Protection Training. Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children and young person's they are responsible for or come into contact with.
