Purpose:
Pegasus Supported Housing Limited provides shared supported housing solutions in line with housing related support which promotes independence, safety and security within the houses. We empower our Service Users to take positive action to promote their wellbeing and achieve optimum independence within their daily lives, while preparing to achieve tenancy sustainment in preparation for their own homes.
As a Life Skills Coach you will be a key player within Pegasus ensuring a strength based approach in delivering support, with the emphasis on advocacy and the upskilling of confidence and coaching the service user to achieve positive outcomes alongside their optimum level of independent living!
Responsibilities:
- To take responsibility for a designated caseload of service users requiring life skills coaching.
- Deliver a comprehensive and strength based coaching package with the service user designed to maximise independence. This should be based on an initial assessment of the service users' needs and abilities.
- Liaise / develop relationships and work collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory / voluntary agencies where appropriate to negotiate and agree their participation in working with the service user, this includes arranging multi-agency meetings.
- Identify and maintain focus on progression and achievement of personal goals for the service user.
- To maintain and update records of service user's progressions / outcomes using the provided online software, maintaining contact on a regular basis in line with organisational expectations.
- To promote independence and wellbeing through coaching service users to enhance life skills that enable them to independently manage personal finances, health and wellbeing, tenancy sustainability and be ready for move on to independent accommodation.
- Risk assesses and assists the service user with security and safety matters within their home.
- Work with colleagues and co-ordinate activity across the team and with other stakeholders, including attending meetings, to ensure the service is achieving its aims.
- To advocate in matters relating to the service user such as welfare benefit advice, behaviour intervention, arrears advice etc and to actively involve Housing Officers and Management when required.
- Confident in challenging service users to provide behaviour intervention to enable them to address challenges they may face.
- To ensure service users have equal access to opportunities available such as right to; consultation, representation, safety, security, challenge, seek advice and assistance, decent living conditions and clear information on their support entitlement in line with the Charter of Rights.
Salary, Working Arrangements & Further Information
We are looking for a full time Life Skills Coach at 40 hours a week with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break daily = 37.5 hours. Starting salary 23,985. Part time hours monday - friday 20-25 hours required. Part time salary pro rata.
Essential Criteria:
- Must hold Full UK Driver's License
- Must have valid vehicle business insurance.
- Experience of working with multiple disadvantaged individuals
- Have awareness of safeguarding and relevant actions required in line with safeguarding policies.
- Experience in being able to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Experience of working with multi-disciplinary agencies specialising in supporting vulnerable adults.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within psychologically informed environments and with trauma informed support.
