35.5 hours per week

Monday to Thursday 12:00 - 20:00 (7.5 hours work, 0.5 unpaid break) Friday 12:00 - 18:00 (5.5 hours work, 0.5 unpaid break)

The Role:



The Hygiene Operative plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest hygiene and food safety standards are maintained across our butchery production facility. Working as part of a well-established team, this role is essential to maintaining an audit-ready environment, supporting production efficiency, and upholding our commitment to quality and compliance.

Successful candidates will be involved in all aspects of hygiene control, including daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning, deep cleaning of equipment and workspaces, and problem-solving to ensure the facility operates at the highest standard. Full training will be provided.

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail is essential.

Requirements:



A safety-first approach to working. Confident working in a team and independently. Excellent verbal communication skills. Maintain a positive and professional working environment. Full ownership, responsibility, and accountability for the role. Be flexible and prepared to do whatever is required. Additional hours may be required in peak periods, such as November and December. An interest in food safety and hygiene standards. Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and COSHH (training provided if required).

Key Responsibilities:



Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules to ensure all equipment, workspaces, and facilities are sanitized and audit-ready. Conduct deep cleaning of production areas, machinery, and equipment as required. Use cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment safely and effectively, adhering to COSHH regulations. Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, including BRC, HACCP, and UK food regulations. Maintain hygiene standards that meet the requirements of the

Food Standards Agency (FSA)

, ensuring full compliance with their audit expectations. Identify and report hygiene or maintenance issues, taking immediate action where necessary. Maintain accurate cleaning records and documentation to support audit compliance. Work collaboratively with production and quality assurance teams to uphold hygiene standards. Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained. Follow and uphold health and safety protocols, including correct use of PPE. Participate in internal and external audits, providing required documentation and supporting hygiene compliance efforts. Assist in training new team members on hygiene procedures and best practices.
