Job Description

Thanet Earth is one of the largest employers in East Kent. During seasonal peaks we can have up to 900 people working on site, whether that's in one of our six greenhouses, in our packing factory or in our commercial and administration team.

We want to make sure we have the right people in place to support our growth and we are now looking for a bright and enthusiastic Hygiene Technician to join our QA team based at Thanet Earth in Birchington, Kent.

Due to our remote location and limited public transportation options, candidates must have their own means of transport for daily commuting.



Your main responsibilities will be maintaining thorough cleanliness, sanitation, and orderliness for all packhouse machines, lines, areas and equipment on night shift.

Other responsibilities include:

Following a strict hygiene schedule and routine, and execute daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks, including dismantling the machinery and line equipment. Handling and operating cleaning equipment such as chemical foaming unit and water pressure washers. Ensuring correct and timely completion of all associated Hygiene Records. Storing and handling chemicals, monitoring expiry dates & replacing the cleaning chemical tubs across the site. Monitoring and resetting bait boxes across site on weekly basis, report to management any issues or findings. Assess and resolve minor operational issues independently, report more complex to Engineering and hygiene team manager.
Key skills & knowledge:

COSHH training and Food Safety Level 2 It is essential that the post holder is proactive, hardworking and a flexible individual able to work under their own initiative. Must have a level of manual dexterity/physical fitness that enables careful and accurate completion of labour-intensive hygiene tasks on a daily basis. Must be able to understand clear written and verbal instructions. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.oChemical handling
