HMP Dovegate

Full time, 40 hours

Monday- Friday (7:30am- 4pm but can be flexible)

Here at Serco we are looking for a IAG Advisor to join our Education department at HMP Dovegate a category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. The operational capacity is for 1100 prisoners and it takes a whole team of people to keep the facility safe, secure and in proper working order.

As an IAG Advisor with excellent communication skills you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide high quality Information, Advice and Guidance, to prisoners in custody using various methods of delivery, supporting them into positive learning and employment pathways both in custody and release.

A key aspect of the role is working with the Prison Employment Lead to develop and maintain new and existing links with internal and external agencies providing education, training, and employment opportunities. Furthermore, you must maintain accurate records of one-to-one interviews and interventions utilising both local and national systems.

Additionally, you will support the education department in the delivery and execution of key objectives.

What you need to do the job:

  • We are looking for an individual who has GCSE (Grade C or above) in Maths and English.
  • Ideally, the successful candidate must have an IAG Level 4 qualification and working towards Level 5. This however is not essential, and we can offer the possibility of training for the right candidate who has come from a similar working background.
  • Furthermore, it is desirable for the post holder to have excellent ICT skills having an ICDL qualification or equivalent at level 2.
  • It is essential that you have an understanding of career development options in line with regional labour market intelligence indicators to support informed career decisions.
  • The successful candidate must have demonstratable experience of working with challenging groups and experience of running employability skills workshops.
