About this role
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Maths Teacher for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), covering Years 7-11. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging, interdisciplinary teaching practices that foster a deep understanding of social sciences, history, geography, and economics within a global context.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and learning
Teach IBMYP Mathematics to KS3/4 students.
Responsible for the design and implementation of the IBMYP Maths curriculum/units. Collaborate with other teachers to design and implement enquiry-based, interdisciplinary, and project-based learning experiences.
Lead small classes (up to 15 students), creating a nurturing, supportive environment that fosters independent learning and curiosity.
Design authentic formative and summative assessments, adopting an assessment for learning approach, creating personalised, differentiated learning experiences for all students.
Prepare students for external assessments in Year 11, moderating and standardising student work.
Develop learners' mathematical thinking skills while also nurturing collaboration, creativity, and emotional intelligence, as part of the IB Learner profile.
Engage parents and families in their children's learning journey by sharing progress and involving them in the wider school community, participating in student-led conferences, exhibitions, info sessions and open days
Participate in extracurricular activities, including trips, outdoor learning and other interdisciplinary projects.
Play a key role in the school's MYP evaluation process, helping to shape the Maths department's direction.
Fulfil pastoral responsibilities, acting as a form tutor and mentor, supporting our positive behaviour policy.
Scope for Head of Department
For the right candidate, there is scope for promotion to the role of Head of Department, where you will:
Lead the strategic development of the Maths curriculum across KS3/4.
Mentor and support other Maths teachers and HLTA.
Take responsibility for Maths department performance and ensure alignment with the school's educational philosophy.
Personal Specifications
Essential
Qualified teacher with QTS and experience teaching Maths at KS3/4.
Experience teaching year 7-11 Maths, including GCSE/iGCSE/IB.
Passion for educational reform, with ideas on how to make learning more relevant and meaningful for students.
Aligned with Atelier 21's values, viewing children as capable learners with the potential to build their own knowledge.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a growth mindset and an openness to feedback.
Creative, confident, and adaptable, ready to be part of a pioneering school environment.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Right to work and live in the UK.
Desirable
Experience with IBMYP or willingness to undergo IB training.
Familiarity or interest in project-based learning and the Learning Power Approach (Guy Claxton).
Willingness to take on leadership responsibilities and develop the role into a Head of Department position.
