Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a new full-time Research Compute Data Manager to join the team at Institute of Biomedical Engineering within the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. You will support all data management and data compliance aspects of the growing biomedical engineering research cluster at IBME, which involves extensive collaborations with other Oxford departments across the MPLS and Medical Sciences Divisions of the University, funders, industrial and research collaborators and government. The post is permanent and based in Headington.

About The Role

As Research Data Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of data management strategies across IBME's dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment. You will support researchers in managing sensitive and complex datasets, ensure compliance with data governance standards, and contribute to the development of secure, scalable, and sustainable research computing infrastructure.

You will work closely with IT teams, researchers, and collaborators across the University, including the MPLS and Medical Science Divisions, to support high-performance computing (HPC) needs and to develop future-facing solutions for data storage, security, and access.

About You

You should possess a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or have extensive experience in research data management. Experience in managing sensitive or medical data, as well as supporting researchers with their computing needs (including software troubleshooting, pipeline optimisation and training) is also essential. The role demands a solid understanding of data governance, excellent communication and time-management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
