Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an initiative-taking and meticulous IAM Administrator to join our Group IT department, based in Bournemouth with hybrid working options. This newly created role sits within the End User Computing team and supports the formation of a centralised IAM function to serve over 1,600 colleagues across 50+ sites in the South of England.
This is a pivotal position designed to enhance security, improve operational efficiency, and elevate colleague experience across the Group by managing digital identities, secure access permissions, and automating access workflows.
The Opportunity:
In this role, you will play a central part in managing and improving user identity lifecycle processes including onboarding, access control, role changes, and offboarding. You will ensure access to systems and services is timely, secure, and compliant, acting as a key partner to teams such as People Operations, Payroll, Compliance, Learning & Development, and Finance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing starter, mover, and leaver processes across platforms including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft 365.
  • Managing access requests and enforcing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) aligned to business requirements.
  • Administering and supporting security policies such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Ensuring onboarding/offboarding/change request are processed in a timely manner to ensure user access is compliant with GDPR, FCA, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Automating and improving IAM workflows.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for IAM-related queries and supporting the integration of new systems into the IAM framework.
  • Maintaining clear documentation and supporting access certifications and audit requests.

About You:

From a technical perspective, it is important that you have:
  • Proven experience administering IAM within a medium to large enterprise (ideally 1,000+ users);
  • Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft 365;
  • Firsthand experience with Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) processes, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Single Sign-On (SSO) administration;
  • Ability to automate IAM tasks and integrate new systems securely into existing identity workflows;
  • Familiarity with IT service management tools such as ServiceNow or Freshservice, and alignment with ITIL-based processes;
  • A solid understanding of IAM frameworks, identity governance, and least privilege principles;
  • Knowledge of compliance and data protection regulations including GDPR and FCA standards;
  • Awareness of cybersecurity best practices, particularly in hybrid and multi-site environments;
  • Experience or knowledge of the motor retail sector or other multi-site, customer-facing business environments (desirable);
  • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (or equivalent) qualification is highly desirable;
  • Working knowledge of ITIL service management practices and how IAM supports wider IT and business operations.
