Horton Housing are currently recruiting for a permanent part time Housing Officer to join our established organisation. The successful candidate will work 3 days per week (21 hours) and will be entitled to 6 week holidays (pro rata) plus bank holidays!
The successful candidate will be working across Calderdale supporting the day-to-day operational management of properties. You will provide intensive housing management to tenants including duties such as assisting tenants to comply with the terms of their occupancy agreement, recording, handling repairs, minimising voids. You will liaise very closely with internal and external professionals working with tenants.
The usual working hours for this service is Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. However, some evening and weekend work will be required according to the needs and wants of the people we are working with.
Essential to the role
Understanding of and/or experience of the challenges faced by people going through difficult times e.g. homelessness, ill-health, offending, unemployment etc. This could be through paid employment, volunteering or lived experience.
Understanding of and/or experience of strength-based, person-led approaches to working alongside people.
Experience of housing management including reporting repairs, health & safety, void management, dealing with tenancy issues, tenancy enforcement etc.
Ability to build effective working relationships with people based on transparency, trust and respect.
Ability to develop and maintain strong partnership working; liaising and working closely with other agencies/organisations to provide a holistic service.
Experience of the welfare benefits system, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
Understanding of trauma informed practice would be desirable.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle that can be insured for business use.
