The post holder will primarily help provide a seamless service for patients attending imaging for an interventional procedure under Ultrasound, CT or fluoroscopic guidance. The purpose of this role is to support the interventional diagnostic and treatment services .
The role will be cross sites, allocated based on procedure list requirements The post holder will be required to work both autonomously using their own initiative and within the team in the development and delivery of the minimal invasive procedure services
This role also entails providing support to the clinical nurse specialist team. The post holder will be predominantly responsible for ensuring the prompt and complete preparation of the patient prior to entering the scanning rooms as well as assisting the operators intra-procedure. It is expected that the post holder is highly computer literate, experienced within the hospital setting with knowledge and evidence of medical terminology, educated to a level required to perform the role or equivalent experience.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a professional, proficient and comprehensive support service alongside the nursing team, modality lead radiographer, rotational radiographers, medical and non-medical staff.
To assist the Operator and other qualified healthcare professionals in checking patient details as per trust identification policy.
To assist the nursing team in preparation of the patients. This will include completion of relevant safety checklists, changing them into suitable patient gowns and any other reasonable steps.
To undertake intravenous cannulation according to trust and imaging policy.
To answer any queries which the patient or their carer may ask and know when to ask for assistance from a radiographer.
To assist with any manual handling responsibilities at any point during the examination.
To assist in the preparation of and maintenance of the clinical environment in keeping with trust infection control policy and procedure.
To assist in the patient point of care testing under the close supervision of a suitably trained radiographer
To facilitate the efficient movement of patients both to and from imaging, such as those requiring hospital transport
To be responsible for the maintenance of stock stock for the procedure scheduled for that day list,this will include cannulation packs, paper products, gloves, hand hygiene products, linen etc.
