To provide high-quality legal advice, representation, and casework to clients across a broad range of UK immigration matters. The role requires excellent client care, strong technical knowledge of immigration law, and the ability to manage a busy caseload independently while contributing to the development of the department.
Key ResponsibilitiesCasework & Legal Services
Manage a varied caseload of immigration matters including:
Family visas (Appendix FM)
Leave to remain & indefinite leave to remain (ILR)
Naturalisation & registration applications
Skilled Worker and other Points-Based System applications
Sponsor licence applications & compliance
Appeals before the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber)
Judicial review pre-action protocol letters
EEA Settlement Scheme matters
Draft, prepare and submit immigration applications and legal representations.
Conduct legal research and keep up to date with changes in immigration legislation and Home Office guidance.
Client Care & Communication
Provide clear, accurate legal advice to clients in a timely manner.
Maintain excellent client relationships and ensure high standards of communication.
Conduct client consultations and assess case merits.
Ensure all client matters are handled with sensitivity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all files comply with SRA regulations, GDPR, and internal compliance requirements.
Use the firm's case management system (e.g., LEAP) accurately and efficiently.
Maintain up-to-date time recording, billing, and file notes at all times.
Assist with Home Office audit preparation and sponsor licence compliance work.
Teamwork & Leadership (if applicable)
Support junior staff, trainees, paralegals, and caseworkers where required.
Contribute to departmental growth by supporting business development initiatives.
Attend team meetings, training sessions, and supervision meetings.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of UK immigration law and Home Office procedures
Excellent drafting and advocacy skills
Strong organisational and time-management abilities
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Client-focused approach with empathy and professionalism
Competent IT skills; experience with case management systems preferred
Qualifications & Experience
Qualified Solicitor of England & Wales (SRA registered)
[Insert PQE requirement, e.g., 1-3 years PQE in Immigration]
Experience managing own caseload of immigration matters
Advocacy experience before the Tribunal is desirable
Experience supervising or mentoring staff (if applicable)
