to manage the UK-based customer service function for import operations. This role will act as the key liaison between UK customers, internal back-office teams, and overseas partners. The successful candidate will support pricing activities, generate operational reports, and ensure smooth communication and execution of import shipments.
This role is ideal for someone with strong import knowledge who enjoys customer interaction, coordination, and operational oversight, with scope to develop further supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Coordination
Act as the primary UK point of contact for import customers, providing timely updates and resolving queries.
Manage day-to-day customer service activities related to import shipments.
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through clear communication and proactive issue resolution.
Liaison & Communication
Liaise closely with the back-office team and overseas partners (including Phantom) to ensure accurate and efficient shipment handling.
Coordinate information flow between all stakeholders to avoid delays or misunderstandings.
Escalate issues where necessary and follow through to resolution.
Reporting & Administration
Generate regular operational and performance reports for management.
Maintain accurate shipment, pricing, and customer records.
Support compliance with internal procedures and import regulations.
Pricing Support
Prepare pricing and quotations under supervision.
Assist with cost analysis and rate updates.
Ensure pricing is accurate, competitive, and aligned with company guidelines.
Operational Support
Assist in monitoring shipment progress and resolving exceptions.
Support continuous improvement of import processes and customer service workflows.
Provide cover and support for related operational roles when required.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Previous experience in import operations, freight forwarding, or logistics.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and overseas partners.
Good understanding of import documentation and processes.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Confident using Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
Desirable
Experience working with pricing and quotations in a logistics environment.
Previous supervisory or senior coordinator experience.
Familiarity with working alongside 3PL providers or overseas agents.
Knowledge of UK import regulations and customs procedures.
