We're seeking a detail-oriented Import Forwarding and Logistics Clerk to join our busy freight team. You'll play a vital role in managing international shipments from arrival at UK ports through to final delivery, ensuring smooth customs clearance and efficient coordination throughout the supply chain.
Responsibilities
Customs & Compliance
You'll process imports using our shipping software and handle accurate data entry through customs software. Preparing customs documentation, managing import declarations, and ensuring HMRC compliance will be central to your role. Experience with customs processes and HMRC rules is essential.
Logistics Coordination
From scheduling transportation from ports to coordinating with overseas agents for collections, you'll oversee the physical movement of goods. You'll work with carriers to ensure timely deliveries, manage warehouse operations for checking inventory, and maintain detailed records of all activities.
Communication & Problem-Solving
You'll be the link between suppliers, customs officials, customers, and internal teams. Providing proactive shipment updates, resolving logistical challenges, and reporting issues to customer services will keep operations running smoothly. A detailed knowledge of import freight operations will be needed for this role.
Administration & Improvement
Beyond day-to-day processing, you'll check commercial information including file profits, maintain SOP documentation, support process improvements, and assist with various administrative duties as needed.
Experience
Proven experience working with transportation management systems and customs software is essential.
Advanced understanding of supply chain processes, logistics operations, and 3PL coordination.
Knowledge of B2B sales processes and negotiation techniques.
Excellent grasp of HMRC and UK freight import regulations.
Knowledge of both inventory linked and non-inventory linked customs processes.

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Clear communication abilities across phone, email, and internal systems.
Proactive problem-solving approach.
Willingness to develop technical knowledge of customs regulations and freight forwarding.
