Base salary:

66,553pa to c.83,191pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top of base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As

Inclusive Design Lead

you'll be responsible for


defining and integrating the inclusive design requirements and the delivery of inclusive operations and services across the HS2 programme. ensuring these requirements are embedded across HS2 giving assurance and accountability to the project, including providing reports and reporting risks to compliance with inclusive design standards.
Lead the process of defining the technical requirements being applied and oversee the delivery of those to a quality and standard expected of HS2. Reporting to the Head of Architecture.


Act as the inclusive design client interface with the design teams of the IPTs delivering the Main Works Civil Contract (MWCC) and Stations, the Train Manufacturer and Maintainer, and Rail Systems teams delivering the Depots and the NICC, assuring that HS2's inclusive design specifications and requirements are being met and that the HS2 Inclusive Design Policy is applied.



About the role:



Subject Matter expert to oversee the deliverer of HS2 Ltd Inclusive Design requirements and assure the delivery of all aspects of the design, construction and subsequent operation of HS2, including its interfaces with existing railway and other transport systems, in respect of all aspects of equality diversity and inclusion. Provide professional advice on inclusive design issues and make sure that the same approach is applied across the interfaces to deliver a connected and consistent result. Specify the inclusive design strategy and standards with appropriate measuring and monitoring processes to give assurance to the programme across the main works civils contract, station developments, depots, NICC rolling stock and operational procedures. Develop in-house knowledge through a range of training and activities on inclusive design to raise awareness of the value it gives, improve the effectiveness of its integration, and demonstrate the HS2 to commitment in this area. Assuring inclusive design compliance within the HS2 project teams and supply chain. Lead the relationship with academia, professional bodies and the wider transport industry to identify challenges and opportunities with inclusive design and use our partners in these field to enhance our understanding and improve our decision making. Engagement with national regulators and agencies as directed, to influence the development of legislation and national standards to protect the interests of HS2. Lead the translation of subsequent specification through the HS2 change process into technical specifications and ensure through expert guidance the understanding in delivery teams of the inclusive design requirements. Provide specialist input into the development of the operational system for HS2. Work with the HS2 Design Panel to discuss and review the HS2 project developments as required. o Coordinate consultation with the BEAP (Built Environment Accessibility Panel) to discuss and review the HS2 project developments. Provide the lead in scoping, advising and delivering HS2 research in the field of Inclusive Design. Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You:



Skills:



o Able to compare, assure and provide analysis on information from a variety of sources.


o Ability to influence and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders on technical design decisions


o Ability to manage multiple projects effectively by prioritising workload and work streams to meet agreed deadlines


o Ability to deliver presentations and influence a broad audience and stakeholders.



Knowledge:



o Knowledge of specialist forums, consultation groups and third-party providers in relation to inclusive design.


o Knowledge of national and international inclusive design standards and regulations relevant to the HS2 project.


o Understanding of Equality Analysis/Equality Impact Assessment methodology.



Type of experience:



o A member of the National Register of Access Consultants or actively working towards membership. o Experience of advising inclusive design within a multi-disciplinary team.


o Experience of implementing assurance processes in relation to compliance with inclusive design standards.


o Experience of undertaking design reviews relating to inclusive design.
