Working as part of the Income Services Team you will contribute towards responsibilities including cash receipting at a public service counter, telephone payments, daily and monthly reconciliations, administration and collection of Borough Rate, recording and issuing of Douglas City Council Small Claims at Isle of Man Courts of Justice, operation of Sundry Debtor Scheme and Building Control Searches.
If you have sufficient experience of office administrative, basic accounting routines, experience of cash collection and experience of the administration of rates and debt collection procedures then we would welcome an application from you.
You should also possess excellent customer care skills and ability to deal with customer complaints and have previous experience of working with the general public, both face to face and on the telephone.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
5 GCSEs, including English and Maths. Grade C, above or equivalent
Sufficient experience of office/administrative/basic accounting routines
Experience of cash collection
Experience of the administration of rates and debt collection procedures
An awareness of up-to-date Anti Money Laundering legislation
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, customer focus and security of information in all aspects of work undertaken
Experience of working with the general public, face to face and on the telephone
Excellent customer care skills and ability to deal with customer complaints
Ability to maintain accurate manual/computer records
Good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a Team
Ability to set priorities and manage progress of work
Self-motivated, innovative and capable of working under pressure with minimum supervision as well as to strict deadlines
IT skills and experience of working with financial accounting software packages
Desirable
Experience of local government and an understanding of the operations and functions of a local authority
Knowledge of the Council's Standing Orders and Financial Regulations
Knowledge of Isle of Man Courts of Justice Small Claim Procedures, Court Proceedings and Coroners' powers
