We are electrical engineering experts, specialising in
high-voltage
infrastructure,
grid
connections and
renewable energy
generation.
We have
160 employees
and are growing quickly. We became
employee owned
in 2019. Our trustee board consists of three employee directors and two independent directors. The independent chair is stepping down, creating an opportunity for an
experienced trustee chair
to continue steering the board and supporting the operating company board in the continued success of the business, ensuring resilience and good governance. This is an exciting time to join the
EOT
as we implement our plans for sustainable growth.
We are looking for someone who will:
Represent the interests of employees as owners
Protect the
values
of the company over the long-term
Provide advice, support and guidance to fellow trustees
Contribute to discussions from a position of neutrality
Ensure that the operating company board understand their responsibilities to the trust
Support the delivery of
robust governance
Bring expertise and knowledge of other business models, cultures and organisations; and
Be able to think differently and challenge thinking in a constructive manner.
Heres what you need to be successful in this role:
Previous experience
in a similar role and so a good understand the governance structure of employee-owned businesses
Considerable experience of participating in and
leading balanced discussions
in board meetings
A good understanding of financial management best practice, and able to
interpret financial information
and confidently ask questions about it; and
Commercial experience of working in or with companies of a similar size, in a similar large-project based industry, with a similar employee profile (both office and site based) and therefore an understanding of the challenges the operating company directors face.
The board meets regularly
once a quarter
and additionally as circumstances require. Participation is usually remote, though some meetings are held in our office in Yate, near Bristol. This is a remunerated role.
