St Helen's school is looking to appoint an Individual Needs Teaching Assistant to start September 2025. The successful candidate will be supporting one of our pupil's moving to Sixth Form next academic year who has a current Educational Health Care Plan.
Hours: Ideally, we would like this person to support the student Monday to Friday, term time only, working a total of 22.5 hours per week. However, we are happy to be flexible, and this can be discussed further at interview.
The role will report to: Head of Individual Learning Needs.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Pupil Support
Support the student at the beginning of each day and at other times as agreed in advance with the student.
Support any structured intervention provided for the pupil.
Liaise with parents.
Liaise with teachers.
Administration
Work with the Head of Individual Needs to ensure the appropriate support of the pupil including:
Pupil profile
Annual Review documents
Intervention and supporting material.
General
To undertake any other appropriate tasks as requested by the Head of Individual Needs.
Attend training as required including INSET days at the start of each term.
To follow responsibilities as defined in the Health & Safety Policy
To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people with whom s/he comes into contact and adhere to and ensure compliance with the School's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
To support and promote and School's ethos, aims and objectives.
Assume other duties which may be reasonably required or delegated by the Headmistress from time to time.
THE PERSON
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and personal attributes:
Essential:
A levels x 2 at pass level or equivalent
GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at L4 or above
Experience of working with children and young people in an educational setting
IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft applications
Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills with clear and accurate spoken English
Articulate and confidence to liaise with subject teachers and act as advocate for pupils.
Ability to take responsibility and show initiative.
Excellent organisational skills
Able to create a good rapport with colleagues and pupils.
Desirable:
Experience of working with children and young adults with individual needs
Knowledge of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), although full training will be given.
Knowledge of Health & Safety standards required in a school setting.
An understanding of their role in terms of safeguarding pupils
Experience of mentoring or coaching young people
Positive attitude

PROCESS
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the school where they will be interviewed by the Head of Individual Learning Needs, and a member of the Senior Leadership team. They will also have the opportunity to tour the school.
