As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for an Industrial Placement Student to join our team at Cowick Hall, East Yorkshire for 12 months from August 2026. The successful candidate will work on analytical research and development projects working alongside our Functional Ingredients Synthesis team.



You will be responsible for the development of new spectroscopic and chromatographic test methods to use in the screening of our new products as well as data generation and interpretation. The project work carried out during the placement will be of sufficient academic complexity to meet the requirements of a university industrial placement degree course.

You should have good laboratory skills and be able to communicate effectively both in reports and verbally. You will need to be a self-motivated individual with the ability to manage and plan your own workload. Team work, attention to detail and good problem analysis skills are essential for this role. You will have an A Level in Chemistry and be working towards a 2.1 in a Chemistry/Cosmetic Science/Biochemistry or related degree. Previous work experience within the chemical industry (desirable but not essential) Aptitude for analytical chemistry (desirable but not essential)

What You'll Be Doing:

Practical analytical laboratory work, equipment maintenance and report writing Operate instrumentation including Gas Chromatographs (FID & MS), Automated Total Nitrosamine Analyser (TEA), and Gel Permeation Chromatography (HPLC RID) - full training provided Develop new and existing analytical test methods where required Liaise with Croda applications teams and external parties to accomplish analytical goals Plan and carry out your main university analytical project Regular training and acknowledgment of site SHE procedures with an understanding of COSHH and risk assessments
