BMI is currently seeking a Industry Risk Analyst focused on the banking sector, based out of our London or Manchester office.

About the Team
You will be part of a growing and energetic team with high internal and external visibility. You will provide sector-wide banking analysis ranging from deep balance sheet and financial statement analysis to the regulatory environment and industry trends across the global markets, highlighting risks and opportunities for our clients.
How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Act as analytical lead for a portfolio of banking sectors, taking full ownership of all forecasts and historical data, as well as views on the banking sectors within your coverage area.
  • Write daily research notes, as well as contribute to quarterly analysis, produce both country-specific and thematic cross-regional research including balance sheet analysis, financial soundness, digital banking, credit risk, regulatory frameworks, profitability trends, and financial markets, all with connections to macroeconomic dynamics.
  • Work with sales and clients to represent the team and deliver key views and forecasts in a concise and articulate manner during client engagements, presentations as well as at industry events.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts through training, editing and discussion of forecasts and views, acting as a role model for analytical excellence.
  • Support the development of innovative tools and methodologies to enhance research quality and efficiency.
You May be a Good Fit if:
  • BA/MA/MSc/PhD in banking, finance, economics or a closely related field
  • Three to five years of relevant background working as a banking/financial sector analyst, with demonstrated experience in analytical writing, data management, and forecasting of banking sector indicators
  • Experience with balance sheet analysis, financial soundness metrics, and understanding of banking regulatory frameworks
  • Strong writing skills with proven ability to produce high-quality research output in English

  • Strong analytical ability and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong public speaker with advanced presentation skills, capable of confidently managing client engagements
  • Ability to work with and analyse large data sets and forecast across key banking indicators, with knowledge and proficiency in complex forecasting models and data visualisation (Python and/or R)
  • Experience analysing the intersection of banking sector dynamics with economic, political and regulatory risk across multiple markets
  • CFA is a plus
