About the role

Coventry Building Society have an exciting new role for an Information Architect (Data Modeller), to join the Data team.

So, as we grow, we're continuing to strengthen our capabilities and now have an exciting opportunity for a Data Modeller within our Information Architecture team.



As a Data Modeller you will play a crucial role in designing and managing data structures that support data products and self-service as part of our data as a service methodology. You will work with the Architecture and Data Product teams to design and model data solutions within our Lakehouse data platform.



What you'll be doing:


Designing and modelling data solutions Providing expert knowledge and experience to design data models for the support of long-term strategic solutions Designing and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical data models using industry best practice, enforcing alignment to the Society's technical reference architecture. Analysing data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions. Recommending opportunities for reuse within existing data models

This a hybrid role based in Coventry, there is a requirement to be onsite once a week - with the flexibility to be present more often for peer collaboration and events.

About you

Passionate about delivering high quality data products, you'll have knowledge of data products and a good understanding of the drivers of value in the data product area. You'll ideally have experience of JIRA and understand scaled agile ways of working.


To be successful in this role, it's essential that you're able to demonstrate:




Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Modeling: Ability to design models at all levels of abstraction using data modelling tools Normalization & Denormalisation: Understanding of data normalisation rules and when to apply denormalization Database Technologies: Strong knowledge of databases technologies Strong data related programming skills (SQL, Python, PySpark) Data Warehousing: Understanding of data warehouse design principles (star schema, snowflake schema, data vault) ETL Processes: Familiarity with ETL tools and data integration techniques Metadata Management: Ability to define and manage metadata for data governance. Data Governance & Quality: Knowledge of data standards, lineage, and quality frameworks You will have either a Data Modelling related qualification and/or Data Development experience in a commercial environment

Desirable skills for this role are:




Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud data services (e.g. AWS Redshift) Experience of working in Finance related data development environment About us
