We are seeking an experienced Information Governance (IG) professional to join our Information Governance team and support the delivery of the Council's IG framework objectives and wider digital agenda.

As an Information Governance Technical Specialist, you will provide comprehensive, high-quality technical support to the team and the wider business. You will act as a point of contact on key legislative areas of information governance, including Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and Environmental Information Regulations. The successful candidate will provide information governance consultancy and support to both internal business projects and initiatives that require specialist IG support and to external agencies through the delivery of a traded service. Another key element of the role will be to support the Council's Data Protection Officer (DPO) in the delivery of their statutory obligations under GDPR.

The person we require will be keen, enthusiastic, with an in-depth knowledge of Information Governance and the functions that underpin it. They should be able to quickly adapt to working in a responsive environment. Additional knowledge and experience around AI uses in relation to data governance and ethics would also be desirable but not essential.
