Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.

About the role

Within ISD, this post is in the Information Security Group (ISG) which leads on all aspects of cyber security at UCL. ISG is comprised of two teams covering Security Operations; and Governance, Risk and Compliance.



This role sits within the Governance, Risk and Compliance team. The focus is on helping UCL teams to measure, understand and manage risks around cyber security. As an Information Security Officer, the successful candidate will respond to enquiries received via our ticketing system; operate cyber security risk management and third-party risk management processes; assist colleagues with learning to use the tools we use to manage risks; and helping to educate the university on our security requirements and controls




About you

The ideal candidate will have a nice mix of the following skills & experience:


Experience operating as part of an Information Security Team providing support and services to colleagues. Experience managing or providing IT or cyber security training to customers in a class or one on one basis. Sound knowledge of cyber security frameworks and approaches covering Governance, Risk and Compliance: policy and control development; risk assessment and management; training and awareness. Knowledge or awareness of some the following information security technologies: encryption, vulnerability and penetration testing, compliance checking, anti-virus software, personal client firewall, network firewall & other perimeter security and intrusion detection technologies. Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualifications.
